Soft Horizons

About
SOFT HORIZONS is an exploration of material memory and transformation, set within the
ethereal space of a greenhouse. Fragments of Greek marble, reshaped and reassembled,
float with unexpected lightness, gently shifting in response to human presence.
Suspended above, a radiant disc echoes distant landscapes, connecting the installation
to the marble’s origin. From water, the marble recalls its geological journey—dissolution,
crystallization, and rebirth—mirroring both natural processes and craftsmanship.
This is not a monument to permanence, but a meditation on becoming, where discarded
remnants transform into dynamic forms. SOFT HORIZONS invites an intimate dialogue with
motion, memory, and materiality, revealing Greek marble as something alive—capable of
change, reflection, and resonance. This is an initiative celebrating Greek marble.
This installation is created by Objects of Common Interest and is supported by
Enterprise Greece as part of its strategic initiative to promote Greek marble
internationally.

Play sound
The sound piece blends water and earth soundscapes, connected to the extraction and
processing of marble. It invites the listener to an auditory journey of transformation
through location recordings and sound design crafted by Thodoris Kordolemis and curated
by Ariadne Tzika. The complete piece will be presented at Milan Design Week in
collaboration with Oda,
a company based in New York City. Oda makes sound-systems in paper and fabric,
each sound-system plays the live sound from distant places, continuously, in real time.
GREEK MARBLE

GREEK MARBLE | Then. Now. Forever.
Greek marble is a material in constant dialogue with time. Quarried from iconic landscapes and shaped over millions of years, it has defined civilizations, from the Parthenon to contemporary architecture. Humanity's history has been carved in marble, a material both humble and grand, encompassing our daily lives from the details in our living spaces to the intricate designs of landmarks that stand the test of time. Under the brand "GREEK MARBLE | Then. Now. Forever.", this legacy continues—an emblem of purity, strength, and timeless design. Whether in its raw form or transformed by craftsmanship and state of the art machinery, Greek marble carries the imprint of nature and human touch, evolving with each new creation. More than a material, it is a testament to endurance and reinvention, a bridge between past and future, forever in motion.
